Senatorial Aspirant Drags NDC Screening Committee to EFCC Over Alleged N20m Fraud

Senatorial Aspirant Petitions EFCC, Accuses Peter Obi's NDC Party Screening Committee of Fraudulently Obtaining N20 Million

A senatorial aspirant has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging that members of the screening committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) fraudulently obtained the sum of N20 million from him during the party's candidate screening process.

According to the petition, the aspirant claimed that the money was collected under circumstances he described as deceptive and contrary to the party's established procedures. He is urging the anti-graft agency to investigate the transaction and determine whether any criminal wrongdoing occurred.

The petitioner further alleged that despite meeting the necessary requirements and complying with party directives, he was subjected to actions that resulted in financial loss and political disadvantage.

The development has generated debate within political circles, with observers calling for transparency and accountability in the conduct of party affairs, particularly as preparations for upcoming elections intensify.

As of the time of filing this report, the NDC screening committee members mentioned in the petition had not publicly responded to the allegations. Likewise, the EFCC has yet to issue an official statement regarding the complaint.

Political analysts note that the outcome of any investigation could have implications for internal party processes and public confidence in candidate selection procedures.

The allegations remain claims by the petitioner, and all parties involved are entitled to fair hearing and due process under the law.
