Police Arrest Four Suspects Over Gun Linked to Slain Upcoming Artiste in Delta State
Asaba, Delta State – June 8, 2026
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects connected to the illegal firearm recovered in the case of slain upcoming artiste, Oghenemine Ogidi, who was allegedly killed by a police officer in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, on April 26, 2026.
According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, the arrests followed a “painstaking, intelligence-led investigation” that led operatives across Bayelsa and Imo States.
In a statement released on Sunday, the police disclosed that the suspects—identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike—are believed to be part of a gun-running syndicate operating across state lines.
The investigation reportedly began after Emmanuel Chukwuemeka was arrested in Bayelsa State on May 4, 2026. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to purchasing the firearm for ₦290,000 from Amadi Princewill and later selling it for ₦380,000 to an unidentified buyer known as “Desmond,” who remains at large.
Police further stated that the weapon was allegedly transported to Effurun, where it was linked to the deceased artiste, Oghenemine Ogidi, before the fatal incident.
Following this confession, operatives trailed and arrested Amadi Princewill in Imo State on May 15, 2026. He, in turn, allegedly revealed that he acquired the firearm from Amadi Felix Chibuike for ₦200,000, leading to the latter’s arrest in Owerri on May 16, 2026.
CP Oyeniyi added that preliminary findings suggest the suspects are associated with the Black Axe confraternity, noting that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members, including the suspected buyer identified as Desmond.
He confirmed that all suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the case continues to draw public attention, with renewed calls for accountability over both illegal arms circulation and the circumstances surrounding the death of the young artiste.
