🛑 BREAKING: NLC, TUC Threaten Nationwide Strike Over Rising Insecurity

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has warned that organized labour may embark on a nationwide industrial action if the Federal Government fails to urgently address the worsening security situation across the country.

The labour centres expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks affecting communities in several parts of Nigeria, describing the situation as a serious threat to the lives, livelihoods, and welfare of citizens.

According to labour leaders, workers and ordinary Nigerians are increasingly exposed to insecurity while travelling, working, farming, and conducting daily activities. They stressed that no meaningful economic growth or national development can be achieved in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.

The NLC and TUC called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property, strengthen intelligence gathering, and bring perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.

They warned that if decisive measures are not taken to reverse the growing insecurity, organized labour may be left with no option but to mobilize workers nationwide for industrial action in defense of citizens' safety and constitutional rights.

The development adds to growing public concerns over security challenges facing the nation and the urgent need for lasting solutions.
