BREAKING: Kwankwaso ‘Threatens’ to Leave NDC as Party Revises Kano Candidates’ List
Fresh political tension has emerged within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as former Kano State Governor and party leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, reportedly threatened to leave the party following a controversial revision of the Kano State candidates’ list.
According to party sources, the NDC leadership in Kano adjusted previously submitted nominations, citing the need to enforce an internal 60/40 power-sharing agreement between the Kwankwasiyya bloc and the original party structure.
The revised list reportedly replaced several candidates aligned with Kwankwaso’s political movement, triggering strong reactions from his camp and escalating fears of a widening internal crisis ahead of the upcoming elections.
Party officials insist the changes were made to maintain fairness and compliance with agreed arrangements, while Kwankwaso’s supporters view the move as a political setback and breach of trust within the party structure.
The development has raised concerns about stability within the NDC as it prepares for the 2027 general elections, with calls growing for urgent reconciliation to prevent further fragmentation.
This is a developing political story.
