 Bayelsa Lawmaker Frederick Agbedi Emerges House Minority Leader


Hon. Frederick Agbedi, representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, has emerged as the new Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.


Agbedi, a seasoned legislator and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is widely regarded as one of the most experienced lawmakers in the National Assembly. His appointment follows recent leadership changes within the opposition caucus of the House.


As Minority Leader, Agbedi will be responsible for coordinating opposition lawmakers, articulating alternative policy positions, and providing constructive scrutiny of government policies and legislative proposals. His new role places him at the forefront of parliamentary debates and key national discussions.

Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso , has reportedly threatened to leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress following a fresh dispute over party tickets in Kano State. The crisis started after the NDC replaced several candidates earlier submitted by the Kwankwasiyya faction in Kano. According to reports, the changes were made to enforce a pre-agreed 60/40 power-sharing formula between the Kwankwasiyya bloc and the original NDC structure. Under the arrangement, the Kwankwasiyya bloc was expected to receive 60 percent of elective positions and party offices, while the existing NDC structure would retain 40 percent.
