The Senate has intensified its oversight of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), questioning the agency's Managing Director over the implementation of its ₦16.6 billion budget.

Lawmakers reportedly raised concerns about several expenditure items, demanding detailed explanations and justification for funds allocated and spent by the commission.

The Senate's scrutiny is part of ongoing efforts to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources amid growing calls for effective development initiatives in the South-East region.

The development underscores the National Assembly's commitment to monitoring government spending and ensuring that public funds are utilized for their intended purposes.
